Meet Mark (@the.bricklife) bringing an every day in the STAR WARS universe to life with “Welcome to Tatooine”
Mark began building LEGO to help reduce stress. He started this MOC around 3 years ago and it keeps growing and evolving. Mark would love to keep expanding it, but he’s officially run out of room at home.
Here’s a little bit more about Mark
What got you into building LEGO as an adult fan?
I got back into LEGO building as a form of therapy during lockdown. It really helped me unwind and reduce stress.
What’s the name of your build and what inspired it?
The name of my build is ‘Welcome to Tatooine”. I was inspired by my love of star wars.
Roughly how long did this display take to design and build?
It took me around 3 years but I keep changing and adding to my moc.
Is there a detail that people tend to miss?
The ‘space balls’ reference. This was a cheesy Star Wars knock off show and I decided to add it to my build.
What’s the biggest challenge in bringing this build together?
The hardest part is having space at home to actually continue building. The moc is now very large and it’s getting hard to add to it.
What part of the display are you most proud of?
I’m really proud of the ATST split in half.
Are you planning to display this anywhere else? If so, where can people see it next – or follow its journey online?
Lymm historic transport day, or on @the.bricklife on instagram
What’s your next LEGO project after this one?
Tomb Raider
Additional: If LEGO could make a new theme what would you want them to make?
I would love Tomb Raider.
