Celebrating International Day of Human Space Flight (April 12)
By Alan McLeod
For this project, I wanted to capture the beauty of Saturn—not just as a planet, but as a symbol of exploration and curiosity. This LEGO build uses a pointillist style, with hundreds of tiny circular elements coming together to form the icy rings, the glow, and the depth of one of the most iconic sights in our solar system.
I love how Saturn almost feels painted rather than built—each stud acting like a pixel or brushstroke, especially in the rings where colour and light shift constantly. It’s a reminder that even something as vast and distant as a gas giant can be reimagined piece by piece.
Space has always pushed us to look beyond our world, and today feels like the perfect moment to celebrate that spirit of discovery—whether through science, imagination, or LEGO.
